Hiram Trillo

Wedding | Last Updated: April 4, 2024

My name is Hiram Trillo and I am a wedding photographer based out of Fort Worth, Texas. I have been shooting weddings since 2009 and have been lucky enough to be shooting weddings internationally.

I am a lover of old cinema, a “flasher” (use off camera flash) at heart, and a comic book geek. I have made plenty of mistakes over my career with gear and noticed that I never used more than half of what I had… so I made a change and got rid of the dead weight.

I have always been a Canon shooter, started with my Canon AE1 shooting street and currently still shoot some film for my personal projects, mainly.

Here is my utility belt.

Cameras

I use Canon 5D Mark III as my primary camera and a Canon 6D as my secondary. I always carry two cameras at weddings and one during sessions or editorials

I have a film camera Voigtlander Bessa R4a with me just in case I have some time and want to shoot a few rolls.

Lenses

-Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L: I use this lens for ceremony mainly, it’s a beast but I
love it and use it even for portraits at times. I use this a lot for editorial shoots!

-Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L: This is one of my go to lenses. I use this for portraits,
reception shots, and it forces me to get close to people if I really want to capture
the essence and feeling of moments.

-Canon 50mm f/1.2L: I have used this lens for about 3 yrs now and it never leaves
my bag. It’s a must for me for its versatility.

-Canon 135mm f/2L: What can I say about Mr. 135 except that it rocks. I have
this lens because its lighter than carrying the 70-200 and it’s a gorgeous portrait lens.

-Canon 45mm f/2.8 TS-E: I use this because I want to get images right on camera
without much post, and this is a lens that when used right can help you on
creativity… Since it’s all manual it forces me to keep my eye glued to the
viewfinder and stay on task.

-Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.4 Again this is an amazing focal length and my favorite combination for rangefinders. (personal favorite)

Lights

-3 Cheetah Light V850 by Cheetah Stand: Super dependable fully manual speedlights, amazing price and can all be controlled from camera.

-Cheetah Light LED panel by Cheetah Stand: I use this LED in situations that flash is too much light even at the lowest setting.

Transmitters

-CL-Tx by Cheetah Stand
-Cells II by Cheetah Stand for hi-speed sync

Modifiers

-Magmod Kit: Best portable and durable set I have come across.

Light Stands

-2 Cheetah Stands C10 with Speed Pro S brackets: These little suckers are just amazing. The legs collapse automatically which helps with being able to move my lights fast.

Communication

-2 Black Diamond CE 420
-Iphone 5

Memory

-8 Lexar Pro 16GB CF
-4 Lexar Pro 16GB SD

Leather goods (every super hero should wear some)

-Money Maker by HoldFast for when I use two cameras at weddings
-The Bresson by Trillo & Son Leather Co. for single camera use
-The Capa by Trillo & Son Leather Co. for my rangefinder

*Trillo & Son is a leather company I will be launching soon. We will be making hand made camera straps and accessories. I’m excited to share it with everyone starting with this feature, since I have only been giving little teaser here and there.

Camera Bags

Think Tank Airport International V2.0 this is the Batmobile to my gear and I use it when traveling mainly.

I have always been a huge fan of Belstaff bags and since they don’t make camera bags I modified one and it’s my go to bag.
