Estelle Lefevre

Family & Maternity | Last Updated: February 11, 2021

Hi, I’m Estelle, a French photographer still in my 30’s but more often I feel 10 years old. My favorite subjects in photography are kids, from the early years to grown-up. I like shooting newborns, babies, kids and families in a candid way, at home or everywhere they are moving.

I used to work with Canon gear for 15 years, but I recently changed my way to work and switched to Fuji.

I used to shoot my family and personal life with Fuji X-T1, then upgraded to Fuji X-T2 and I was amazed by the quality. Every time I pushed the camera to a more complex location or light it answered better than I expected, so I started to shoot pro sessions with it.

Today I shoot with my Fuji X-T3 and my Fuji X-T2 is a backup camera. Those cameras are so light, and so small, it’s very comfortable! I had a scooter crash 6 years ago and I sometimes had some trouble holding my Canon 5D Mark III stable. Today I’m always stable and comfy. They are designed just for my hand.

I also love them because they can be totally silent. And when I shoot everyday life, it helps me a lot. During sessions, people sometimes forget I’m shooting, so they’re more natural.

Mirrorless cameras have also a comfy advantage with the viewfinder, and the face detection is just crazy. The AF is much more reactive.

As I need to cover multiple angles, I use different lenses.

I use the Fujinon XF 18mm f/2 R for 90% of everyday life photoshoots. I like it because it’s small and it covers a large angle. It works very well for candid scenes, both outdoor and indoor.

When I shoot newborns, I use the Fujifilm XF 60mm f/2.4 R MACRO to shoot all the tiny details like fingernails, feet, mouth or hair strands. I like to capture all the small things that make up the child’s personality.

To shoot families, I work with the Fujifilm XF 35mm f/1.4. I can shoot a group close-up keeping some context in my frame. And if I want some posed portraits of each member, I use the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 and isolate the subject from the background.

For now, I’m very happy with this minimal kit!
