Hello, I’m Gene, a graphic designer turned wedding photographer who’s the owner and photographer behind Geneoh Photography. I strive to deliver timeless images that my couples can cherish and remember their wedding day with. I live in Minneapolis with my wife and two dogs.

When I started photography over six years ago I began on digital. It helped me develop an understanding the technical aspects of photography, as well as how to use lighting and get the most out of my subjects. As life has moved on I’ve started to incorporate film into my wedding and portrait workflow. It’s become a big part of my identity.

For digital gear I use a Canon 5D mark III body, my three most used lenses are the Canon 35mm f/1.4, Canon 50mm f/1.2 and Canon 85mm f/1.2. I use this camera setup to document the fast pace of a wedding day. I jive well with prime lenses. 35mm is very true to the eye and makes for a perfect focal length for documenting. I think the 50mm is the most versatile focal length available. If I could only have one lens it would be the 50mm. The  Canon 85mm f/1.2 is surreal when it comes to portraits. There isn’t a better lens available.

For film gear my main camera is a Contax 645 and 80mm f/2 Zeiss Planar. The Zeiss is like butter. The tones and DOF are hard to achieve with any other setup. I use Fuji Pro 400h 120 film but I love using Kodak Portra 400 & Kodak Portra 800 as well because of how flexible it is. Probably my favorite camera I’ve ever used is the Pentax 67 with 105mm f/2.4. If I’m not in a rush and have time to enjoy the moment the Pentax is what I’ll use. It’s built like a tank. The results and shooting experience inspire me to no end.
