New Adapter Makes Fujica GL69 Lenses Work on Most Mirrorless Cameras
The brand FotoDiox has unveiled a new commercially available lens adapter that lets photographers affix Fujica GL69 bayonet lenses to nearly any mirrorless camera on sale today.
The Fujica GL69 bayonet mount is a type of lens that was released by Fujifilm way back in the 1960s for use in Fuji’s own medium format interchangeable lens rangefinder cameras.
The first production-model camera that used this lens mount was called the Fujica G690, which outputted to a 6×9 frame size and had an aspect ratio similar to that of 35mm film.
According to Fotodiox, “This frame size paired with Fujinon glass meant that commercial photographers could offer higher image quality on prints and work more efficiently,”
Fotodiox further elaborates that “The Fujica G690 and the lenses the system left behind might entice the average film shooter these days but even without the body, the lenses are still worthy workhorses. That is why we are the first to commercially offer a lens adapter for the Fujica GL69 bayonet to various mirrorless cameras.”
With all of these factors in mind, the manufacturer (Fotdiox) has decided to release its set of adapters for GL69 bayonet lenses. These are compatible with cameras such as Canon’s RF-mount, Leica L-mount, Nikon Z-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, Fujifilm GFX G-mount and Sony E-mount models.

These new adapters from Fotodiox come with a built-in cocking ring that keeps a lens shutter open by the simple expedient of setting the lens shutter speed in a compatible camera to “B”, (Bulb).
This is necessary because GL69 lens mounts came with a leaf shutter design that isn’t compatible with modern mirrorless cameras.
The Fujinon GL69 bayonet mount lenses that work with the adapter are the following:
- Fujinon 50mm f/5.6
- Fujinon SWS 65mm f/8
- Fujinon 65mm f/5.6
- Fujinon EBC AE 100mm f/3.5
- Fujinon S 100mm f/3.5
- Fujinon TS 150mm f/5.6.
The maker of the adapter also explains that GL69 lenses are particularly compatible and aesthetically suited for Fujifilm’s GFX cameras.
These adapters for Fujica GL69 lenses can be bought directly from the Fotodiox site at a uniform price of $225.
