On-Set Production for Low-Budget Filmmaking? This B&H Video Helps

News | By Stephan Jukic | November 25, 2022

In case you didn’t know about it, the people at B&H Photo and Video happen to run a pretty excellent YouTube Channel that’s filled with tutorial videos about an enormous range of photography and video production subjects from straight across the board.

And quite frankly, if any website would know how to put together some genuinely well-made content about using photo and video technology well, it’s one of the internet’s best-known and widely used camera and photo equipment retailers.

In general, we highly recommend giving their channel’s whole video selection a serious look-through for a massive range of very well-created information, and one of their most recent uploads is a great example of this.

The 1-day-old video, titled, “On Set Production: Everything You Need to Know | Low-Budget Filmmaking” covers the essentials of set production for filmmakers working on a tight budget.

In the 11.5-minute clip, Jake Estes of B&H covers the essentials of running on-set video production smoothly. He goes into quite a few key details about selecting your crew, avoiding certain key mistakes and how to compose and complete different kinds of shots with narrative continuity, clear audio recording and other crucial set-production tasks.

Despite being barely 12 minutes long, the video covers a fair bit of ground and gives over enough information that any budget film producer can use to work with and extrapolate from with their own creativity and further, deeper advice. We recommend giving it a look, especially if you’re trying to minimize costly mistakes on a low budget while producing your first serious film effort.
