Hello! My name is Tales Yuan. I’m a photographer living in Chongqing, a city built on mountains in China. My major in college was chemistry, a subject that seemed to have nothing to do with photography.
During my master’s degree, I bought my first DSLR camera and fell in love with photography ever since.
I focus on portrait and fine-art photography, especially the subcultural genre. I also write tutorials on Chinese social media and make videos up to my channel.
I bought a Canon 6D a few years ago. I’ve been using it for several years. At that time, it was light and moderately priced, so it was very suitable for beginners.
In recent years, I have also used Canon 5D Mk IV cameras. It is an exciting camera. The dynamic range is better than Canon 5D Mk III. The focusing performance is very fast and accurate. The touch screen design is humanized.
My latest camera is Sony A7R III. The higher MP could provide more details. Shot speed, dynamic range, EVF, and AF are all outstanding. Sigma mount converter mc-11 is working well on it.
My favorite zoom lens is Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. It provides reliable performance and amazing optics quality. I also use prime lens. Sigma 35mm f/1.4 is another lens that I like. It is an excellent lens if you don’t care about its weight.
Sometimes I take my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 and Canon EF 35mm f/2. They are small, lightweight, and priced cheaply. Yongnuo YN100mm f/2 is my new treasure.
It is cheap and cheerful and it has a better-than-expected effect on Canon 5D Mk IV. But flares can’t be controlled when bright light enters the lens directly.
I use Godox AD200 and Godox trigger. At this price, it provides reliable performance and powerful flash. I also have some Yongnuo flashes such as Yongnuo YN560 and Yongnuo YN568. I could take them anywhere without thinking about weight.
I use Adobe Lightroom to correct color and choose photos. And then I make a further editing in Adobe Photoshop. It can create unlimited possibilities.
In my opinion, all the equipment and tools are just a part of our shooting. We should think more about how to use the equipment in hand to take better pictures.
Lastly, I’d like to say that I love photography and I will continue my exploring.
