Veli Yanto

Wedding | Last Updated: April 4, 2024

I’m a wedding photographer based in Bali, a happy husband and a proud dad of 2 little girls. Starting Veli Photography in Oct 2010, I have shot over 300 weddings over the past 5 years.

I’m a happy Canon user, but in some conditions I did use Nikon as well, but normally less than 5% of my photos.

I use a Canon 5D Mark III when I shoot weddings because I prefer to shoot a little bit overexposed. It’s easy to bring out the overexposed details in Lightroom with this camera. I use the Nikon D750 in conditions where the lighting is flat and I need to bring out the shadows or underexposed parts more using Lightroom.

Lenses

Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 for set up & panoramic shooting,

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 during some action shots like when the bride and groom first enters at the reception, where you need to focus on moment and can’t easily carry 2 cameras with you.

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 and the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 are my normal lenses.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L when it comes to the ceremony. I don’t want to distract the guests by standing too close to them during ceremony. With this lens I can easily get a candid shot without them knowing. For some camera-shy people it’s not good if we stand too close to them.

Canon EF 135mm f/2 I use this only during the dinner reception if the set up is a long table or where all the tables are set far away from one another.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 for the portrait shoot or during preparations when I get too lazy. I sometimes also bring the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 and Canon EF 85mm f/1.2.
