Hi, my name is David, but everyone knows me as David Navia.
I am passionate about coastal and landscape photography and I’ve been involved in this world since 2018. I hope to continue with this type of photography for as long as I can but I also have an interest in forest photography that needs to be explored.
My main camera is the Sony Alpha 7 III which I have had for years and I couldn’t be happier with how it performs.
I have been using Sony cameras since I started photography with my first being the Sony Alpha 6000. This was an incredible camera but I ultimately upgraded to one that had a bit higher quality and more dynamic range.
This is where the Sony Alpha 7 III excels. I love that this full-frame camera performs well with landscapes and night photography and I have found the twenty-four megapixels perfect, as I don’t need huge files.
The lens that I carry most of the time is the Sony 16-35mm f/4. I really love this lens as it has amazing sharpness, in a small, lightweight body.
Most of my shooting is during the day, so I don’t need a lens with better low-light performance. If you are looking for a landscape lens, for a moderate price, and without the need for that extra brightness, this is the lens for you.
The 16mm lens is excellent for powerful close-ups and to give an extra boost to your composition.
My second lens is the Sony 24-105mm f/4 G which perfectly complements the Sony 16-35mm f/4 G for my work. It is a lightweight lens, with great sharpness all the way around and perfect to carry as a single travel lens. I will use it when I want to get a bit closer to my subject or even for abstract shots.
The other lenses in my kit are the Laowa 15 f/2 which I use to capture the night. With f/2 it is very good at capturing the available light plus it weighs very little. Finally, my newest acquisition the Irix 11mm f/4 is an ultra-wide angle lens to capture those scenes that other lenses just won’t let you capture.
I use a Petzl Arctic Core as my headlamp because of its lightweight and the advantage of being able to use both standard batteries and rechargeables.
After using many backpacks I can say that the Athlas Athlete is the perfect one for me. It is light, comfortable and has enough space to carry both my photographic equipment and clothes.
My main tripod is the T3240K from Sunwayfoto which is a lightweight super sturdy tripod that meets all my needs.
To edit my photos I always use Camera Raw, Photoshop and on occasion Luminar. I also like to use colour effects filters which change how the camera sees the light.
