Dirty Harry

I’m Charalampos Kydonakis aka Dirty Harry from Rethymnon of Crete. Most of these images are taken in Crete, the rest are travelling shots since 2008 and on.

I don’t know if I’m the appropriate guy to speak about equipment. Good equipment for everyone is just what one has or simply a camera that works. I think the best equipment is just the eyes, nothing more.

I use:

– A Canon 5d Mark II + a Canon 60d. I also had the underwater Canon D10 and Canon D20, but they got seawater inside and now they’re both dead.

– A Canon 20mm f/2.8 fixed lens on the Canon 60d and Canon 28mm f/2.8 or Canon 35mm f/1.4 on the Canon 5D Mark II. I also use a lot a plastic pinhole 35mm lenses and sometimes a fish eye like these.

I tried a few times before to shoot with a 50mm lens, but it was impossible. I want to be close to what I shoot and 35mm is the maximum focal length I can work with. More than this and I lose a sense of what is in front of my frame.

– An old Pentax AF200S flash or a Canon 270EX used sometimes wirelessly, sometimes on cable and sometimes on the hotshoe.
