Foto Event Studio

Wedding | Last Updated: September 16, 2021

Hello from Sicily! We are Foto Event, a professional wedding studio based in Italy. Eleven years ago we shot our first wedding and now here we are, shooting weddings all over Europe!

Foto Event is a two-women-led team, with our husbands as helping hands. We do everything wedding-related, from photography to videography.

We love the modern reportage style, and we aim to be relaxed and fun with our couples so that they can just enjoy their day while we capture their more candid moments with their families.

We’ve been using Canon cameras from the start, and they’ve never failed us.

Our main body is the Canon 5D Mark IV, but we have some Canon 5D Mark IIIs as well. They’re fast, sturdy, reliable, and they do whatever we need from them. We also have a Canon 7D as a backup camera.

Usually, we use the Canon 35mm f/1.4 together with the Canon 85mm f/1.4.

We also bring another couple of lenses, like the jack of all trades Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 and the super Canon 70-200mm f/2.8.

Sometimes for details we use the Canon 50mm f/1.8, which can easily be used with a reversing ring adaptor (custom made) to shoot super close-ups.

For wide shots and for capturing landscapes, we use the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6.

We tend to shoot with natural light but for difficult lighting we usually have the trusty Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT and an older Canon Speedlite 580EX II.

In 2019 we bought another flash, the round Godox V1.

A couple of Yongnuo YN-622s will do the triggering of the flashes just fine.

From the start of our career we’ve been using Blackrapid double and single straps. Weddings are tough, and good straps are life-savers!

We’ve added a couple of things into our backpacks, mostly to differentiate our shooting styles from the masses.

First of all, we sometimes use a DJI Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 to capture things from the sky. New viewpoints are fun and usually unexpected!

Camera-wise, we pack a Ricoh Theta for 360-degree photos, an action camera for selfies, and a Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ20. Instant photos are just the right memories to gift to the couple at the end of the day!

For special effects we bring a Pixelstick – an LED bar that can display images or patterns and create optical prism distortion on-demand with fractals – and a couple of blank CD/DVD/Blu-ray/mirrors for reflections.

Other things we bring are a sewing kit, common make-up for on-the-fly retouching of the bride, and clear lingerie tape. | @foto.event
