Jaider Lozano
My name is Jaider Lozano from Asturias, Spain. I am 28 years old and I am passionate about the sea, surfing and photography. I understand surfing as a way to interact with nature, and in particular, with the sea. With my photography, I try to transmit this vision.
My gear is pretty simple and basic: a Canon 7d, Canon 50mm f/1.8, perfect for portraits, Tamron 17 – 50mm f/2.8 that I usually use to shoot landscapes and line ups, and my old Canon 75–300 mm f/4-5.6
, perfect for action shots.
With that Canon 75-300mm lens, I have taken 90% of the photos in my portfolio. I don’t use it nowadays but I think it would be not fair to not include it in this photo.
I think one of the most important things people have to understand, is that the equipment is important, but it’s not going to improve you as a photographer. Taking great photos is about the vision you have and more important than losing yourself in equipment reviews is viewing the work of great photographers – not only great surf photographers but landscape and portrait photographers too.
This is why I have included two of my favorites books of all time: Sipping Jetstreams by Dustin Humprey and Surf Photography by Leroy Grannis.
