Hello there! I’m Julia Kivelä, landscape and lifestyle photographer based in Finland.
I’ve always been interested in photography. Probably a big part of this is thanks to my grandpa as he was a hobby photographer and taught me that pictures should have some meaning and be interesting/beautiful.
When I got my first camera I didn’t know what to shoot, what type of photography was interesting for me. So basically I was just shooting everything and only when I moved to Finland (2011) I fell in love with the natural beauty and started to take nature shots.
I really loved it and so did my few followers on Instagram. With time, my Instagram account started to grow bigger and I gained great support from there, which motivates me to do more and more.
At the moment, I’m an entrepreneur and photography is my full-time job.
I’m shooting with a Canon 5D mark IV and using Canon 6D
as my second.
I really love both cameras, but maybe I use the 5D mark IV more often as it’s newer and faster.
My favorite lens is the Tamron tele lens Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. I enjoy photographing landscapes in the distance with it.
This lens gives great depth to the photo. Also some animals shots are ending up really great with it.
My second favorite is a wide-angle by Canon – the Canon 16-35 mm f/2.8. This is very good for shooting night photography/Auroras, wide-angle landscapes and many other things!
Canon 50mm f/1.4 I use for portraits and sometimes for more “romantic” mood photos.
Canon 24-105mm f/4 is also great when I travel light, because this lens is kind of a multitasker and can perform many different types of photography.
I also have and sometimes use Sony A7 III with Sony 24-105mm f/4
. This combo is also good at multitasking, really compact and especially great for video.
