Marcos Llanos

My name’s Marcos Llanos and I am a wedding photographer in Argentina. I live in Mendoza, a beautiful province near the mountains with great views of the Andes and Aconcagua.

It is a joy to tell you I’ve been creating my whole life. This is what keeps my mind healthy and my heart beating.

Music has inspired me since I was a kid and today it is a great support too.

In wedding photography, I found real motivation and all the spice of life by capturing emotions, tears, laughter, spontaneity and all sorts of craziness! I can photograph amazing landscapes and bring a beautiful couple into it. Also, I can shoot portraits of people in moments in which they are being themselves and showing their real feelings.

I think that the ways we choose in our lives prepare ourselves for the present. I truly feel I reveal every part of my history with each click, and also my interpretation of love and the world itself. All this makes this profession so touching and full of meaning.

During weddings, I find myself emotionally involved in different situations, and many times I have had to struggle to remain out of the emotion and shoot objectively. Finally, I have reached the balance to shoot my camera from an “objective emotion.”

To concentrate only on shooting without worrying about equipment, I rely on a fast, lightweight gear that can perform in any situation.

At present I use:

Two Nikon D750 bodies. I´m in love with these cameras! They have a perfect grip and a very robust body, they are well-sealed, and have an amazing dynamic range.

Nikon 20mm f/1.8 G. At first, it was not easy to use this lens. I had to find the correct distance. It is a very daring lens (especially in corners) but every day I use it more and more, and I like it more and more. It’s perfect for being close to people while dancing and to capture messy and funny situations!

Nikon 35mm f/1.8 G. At weddings I use this 90% of the time. I like it very much. It is perfect for most situations.

Nikon 50mm f/1.8 G. I love this lens! I use it a lot on my second camera. This is usually the only lens I take to the pre- and post-wedding photography sessions and use it from start to finish.

Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G. I use it for less than 10% of the wedding work. It is helpful only in situations where I can’t approximate the distance; otherwise my feet are my best zoom lens. However, I use it almost 99% of the time when I’m photographing concerts.

HoldFast Money Maker. I use this to spread the weight of my two cameras and my shoulders are grateful.

1 Nikon SB-700 Flash. I use this when the natural light has gone. 90% of the time I use this off-camera. In order to create different situations on the dance floor, I shoot above the camera or in my hand depending on how I feel.

Yongnuo 622n Radios. I use these to trigger my flash. Also, they help in focusing when there’s not much light.

MagMod V2 MagGrip Kit. It’s perfect to control the light of the flash.

My iPhone LED. It is small and fast. It gives me a soft lightning, perfect for some situations.

I’ve always felt that photography should communicate in the very same way in which a poem
does. It should be less technical and more perceptive.

We should know that before searching for new gear, we must search for a new inspiration.
