Hi, my name is Massimo Siragusa. I live in Rome, Italy. Photography for me is not only a profession but a passion. I mostly do documentary and corporate photography.
I believe that our society can be described by putting attention on the changes that mankind imprints on our territory, and by analysing the transformation of our way of living and the architectonic evolution of our cities.
Through my photography, I try to tell the stories of people by exploring their relation to the space they act in.
Besides my work as a photographer, I’m a teacher at IED (European Institute of Design) and I regularly hold workshops and conferences on photography.
Last year I also took over the role of curator of a gallery on Catania, Sicily, which specialises in photography. My work has gained, among others, 4 World Press Photo Awards and 3 Sony Awards. I’ve also published more than 20 books.
During my career I’ve used many different types of equipment, analogue and digital. I have been a Sony Ambassador for the past two years and now I exclusively use Sony cameras. These are excellent high-end cameras which have seen a change in my own way of working by providing a great sense of liberty, they are very small and effective at the same time.
I have two tripods, a Manfrotto 055 pro/B with 3 movements head and a carbon fiber Gitzo GT 3540L with ball head.
I especially like one important characteristic of the mirrorless cameras; the ability to use (with adaptors) lenses of different epochs and brands.
