Nathan Szwarc

Landscape, Lifestyle | Last Updated: February 2, 2021

Hi, I’m Nathan Szwarc and I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. My passion for photography really started from a basic high school photography class I took during my senior year to get out of taking science.

I had always enjoyed traveling and especially being outdoors but never really saw a reason to document my experiences beyond some quick iPhone snaps until I learned what a DSLR camera was capable of.

It just so happened that after that photography course I was going on a 50-day road trip across the western half of the United States to explore the National Parks and public land out there.

Right before leaving, I picked up the Nikon D800E from Amazon for a bargain and never looked back.

Ever since that trip I have been continually looking and thinking of where I could photograph next, what new scene I could create, or what old scene I could capture from a different perspective.

For the most part, I generally stick to the outdoor lifestyle and landscape photography. Travel photography is something I would like to get into, especially as I start to travel more and explore new, exciting cultures.

Capturing people who make up different cultures around the world and being able to share these images with other people through social media is a goal I have to continue developing my photography.

As far as what photography has done for me, I can’t say how life altering it has been. I genuinely love to travel; however, photography has forced me to go places I never thought I would end up in to get photos and really pushed me to break my comfort zone.

The biggest thing photography has done for me would be meeting new people, whether it be other photographers, clients, or even just random people I have met through Instagram.

It has been exciting to make so many great connections with other people who want to explore the world and educate themselves through travel.

DJI Mavic Pro 4K
Using a drone may actually be my favourite form of photography at the moment. The ease at which I can toss up this very compact drone, get new perspectives and try to stretch the creativity of my photographs, is something that excites me.

Nikon D800E
Truly, I think, this is one of the best cameras out there. I’ve had this camera now for four years and absolutely put it through everything. It still produces quality images, however it does bother me how bulky it is.

Nikon 2193-IV AF-S fx
I rarely ever zoom past 35mm when using this lens. However, I always enjoy having the option and a wide range of lengths. For the price, I personally think this is one of the better Nikon lenses available.

Olympus Trip 100R 35mm
This is just a fun point-and-shoot film camera I picked up to have on hand. Recently, I’ve been trying to advance my film portfolio and this camera is small and light enough to toss in my pocket. It isn’t battery powered so the only thing I have to worry about is running out of the film!

Mamiya 7 II
I was actually just given this camera and could not be more excited to start using it. As one of the best medium format film cameras of all time, I really hope to start shooting on this camera as much as digital in the future.

I hope to continue to grow my photography business and work with more clients in the future. I’ve currently taken some time off from school to do so, however I do plan to go back and manage both.

I would genuinely love to make it a full-time career one day, and until then I will keep traveling and taking photos! Cheers!
