Part of the Vision Photography
Wedding | Last Updated: February 12, 2021
We are Evelien & Thomas from Belgium. Husband and wife for 10 years and together we are Part of the Vision Photography!
A year ago we sold our DSLRs and switched to the EOS R with its fantastic RF lenses.
Because we are documentary wedding and family photographers, it is important for us to work with light and compact material. The Canon EOS R was a gift from heaven! No more pain in our wrists or fingers after we have photographed a 16-hour wedding day.
A relief! These cameras ensure that we can carry out our assignments much more easily and have more time to be creative – which makes our clients even happier.
About us
After seven years of photography, we are the perfect team to capture a wedding day. We always strive for growth and work hard to get better and better. This year, this resulted in a top 10 place at This is Reportage and a place in the top 100 at Fearless Photographers.
We are out to be the best photographer for our clients. The awards are a nice recognition, but not a priority.
According to us, the best photographer is the one who gives you a good and reassuring feeling and delivers a result that makes you very happy.
A good click, super clear and well-arranged information, personal contact, being able to discuss everything together, the possibility of making quality after-sales, and a nice presentation of the storytelling documentary photos: that’s the base for us.
We are happy to give this to all our couples and families.
Our gear
We deal with our clients on a daily basis. We regularly send them e-mails and call them, and invite them to our house several times for a talk.
In busy periods you absolutely don’t want to struggle with technically difficult settings on your camera and gear! We need material that we can trust and we have found that with Canon for years and now with their EOS R camera (full review).
In the past year, we used the new cameras for every assignment and these have surprised us several times – for example in difficult and dark situations.
You will probably wonder how we deal with the single card slot. Well, we use new, high-quality and reliable memory cards.
Because we photograph with four cameras and use relatively small cards of 64 GB, we reduce the chance of losing important moments if a card could no longer be recovered after an unsolvable problem. We strongly believe that’s almost impossible due to the way we work.
Our memory cards are always used in the same camera body. We do a clean format for every large assignment and when a card is full it will be immediately backed up to an external hard drive that we have with us at a wedding.
The ease of use and the pleasure of working with the EOS R are priming us to keep using the camera.
Equipment we use during the day:
Canon EOS R (2x) with the very light lens Canon 35mm f/1.8 (the total weight is only 1 kg, great!)
Canon EOS R (2x) with the versatile lens Canon 24-105mm f/4
The beautiful portrait lens, the Canon 50mm f/1.2
The best wide angle lens we have ever used, the Canon 15-35mm f/2.8
The reliable Sony Tough Flash Cards (21x)
The original Canon LP-E6N Batteries (16x)
The BlackRapid Double Breathe Straps (2x)
Everything is easily portable and we only have a small bag to move as freely as possible. We don’t use flash during the day, so the remaining gear stays in our car until the evening.
Equipment we use during the evening:
2 x Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT flash units (these are placed on tripods in the venue)
2 x the Canon ST-E3-RT Transmitter
2 x the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT flash units (we use these smaller flash units on camera to limit the weight)
5 x MagGrids and MagGels
Because we each have two bodies, it’s very easy to switch between on-camera flash and off-camera flash. We adjust our flash units in this way until we get the right mix of the available light and our flash light. The CTO Color Gels from MagMod help us very well with this.
Thank you Shotkit for sharing us!
