Ralf Czogallik
Wedding | Last Updated: December 31, 2020
My name is Ralf Czogallik and I started with photography rather late in my career. My professional career started in 2008 and got a boost in 2012 when I started to do my business full time. With the tremendous support of my wife we really could make a living out of this.
I have never imagined this to happen—Do something you love and make an extra buck out of it too!
Through the years I have tried to create my own style that people love to see and make up their own stories— Fantasise about what they see in the picture, ask why is this and who is that etc…
I love to create wedding photos that will blow your mind! Nothing standard, but funky and sometimes sexy stuff. It’s my mission to continually evolve my style and walk the extra mile to make and create photos for my couples that are almost one of a kind.
This gear helps me to do that. Can you image I started out with a Canon 400D with a 16-55mm kit lens! I try to stay on focus and that is why I attend a lot of seminars and workshops all over the world to see other work, feel the atmosphere and talk to my colleagues in the field.
Nowadays I only shoot weddings and engagement sessions. Almost 60% of my weddings are destination weddings and I want to make that 80-90%. I just love the atmosphere and the travelling!
I have built up a fantastic career with many highlights such as Dutch Wedding Photographer of the year, Fearless Photographer TOP10 of 2016, No4 Destination Wedding Photographer of the world 2016, TOP20 Worldwide WPJA Photographer of the year 2015, Winner Masters of Dutch Wedding Photography 2015-2016, Top 5 Masters of Dutch Wedding Photography, International Fearless, WPJA, ISPWP Award winner, Best of 2015 Fearless Photographers and Top 100 Wedding Photographer Society 2015.
I primarily use the Canon 35mm f/1.4 USM L II and Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM
on my two Canon 1DX Mark II
cameras.
Although I shoot mostly with the 35mm the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II is also one of my favourites.
I use the Canon 1DX Mark II because it’s fast and big! I need that because I have a disability in my right hand and can’t push the shutter button properly. There’s almost no way I can press that button so I use my left hand. The weight of the camera enables me to balance it better.
Furthermore, the Canon 1DX Mark II is absolutely one of the best cameras I have ever had in my professional career. It’s incredibly fast, the dynamic range is exceptional and of course it’s the flagship in the Canon camera range. I rarely miss a shot!
Canon 35mm f/1.4 USM L II
This my absolute favourite lens. Versatile, Fast and useful in almost every situation. Can’t leave home with it!
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II
My Dance floor and 35mm backup lens. A real workhorse, and it never fails to have one in your kit!
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L USM II
This is one of my favourite lenses in the field. Fantastic bokeh and tack sharp images almost every time! It’s heavy in combo with the 1DX Mark II but oh so sexy!
DJI Mavic Pro
It’s not in the picture of the shotkit but I use it a lot! For images and of course also the fantastic video capabilities. I like to mix video in with the images in the slideshows I make for my clients.
4x Canon 600 EX-RT Flash + 2x Canon ST-E3-RT Trigger
Yeah I love the Canon system! But it can be really hard to do this. I took me a lot of practice and risky moments during my shoots but I think I know my flashes really well now. I use the Canon 600 EX-RT Flashes with the Canon ST-E3-RT Triggers
because they’re so reliable and fast.
