Roberto Pavic

I’m an advanced amateur photographer from Zagreb, Croatia. I said advanced amateur because here in Croatia it’s almost impossible to earn a living from landscape photography. So photography is not my job. It’s more like a passion and hobby to me. I like to take photos and to spend most of my free time behind my camera and in front of my monitor. It gives me something extra after a long day on my main job.

Most of my photos are landscape photos, but I’m quite familiar as concert photographer, which is something completely different. Landscape photography is very calm – it’s between me and the nature and it’s something personal and relaxing, while my concert photography is all about passion, the atmosphere of the concerts and the aggression of the bands.

My first exhibition, “Cities on the water” is where I found myself in photography. The exhibition contained 30 long exposure photos of European cities on rivers, lakes and sea like Prague, Budapest, Venice, Vienna, Bled, Hallstatt, Dubrovnik, etc. But after that I decided to get more into nature and landscape photography.

Mountains, forests, rivers and lakes became my new target. There is nothing better then waking up early in the morning alone at some lake and shooting in all that quiet and calm surrounding.

My gear:

I’m very proud because I recently bought Canon 5D Mark IV. Great camera for amazing photos!!! This year for the first time I’m travelling to Iceland and I hope I will see the full potential of this camera. As a backup to 5D I have a Canon 6D.

Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye – a must-have lens for my concert photos. Since I bought it more than 70% of my concert photos have been taken with it. It gives another dimension and perspective to “normal” view.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM – not the latest version of Canon 16-35 lens but a great thing for landscape photos. I really like wide-angle shots, so most of my landscape photos are taken with 16-35 lens.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM – “standard” lens for standard good photos. First lens I bought but after purchasing 16-35 most of the time it’s my “backup” lens.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II – fast and razor sharp lens great for both landscape photos and low light concert photos. One of the best Canon lenses I’ve used.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II – I won it at some Canon contest and it’s a really great addition to my set of Canon lenses.

Canon Speedlite 430EX II

Manfrotto 190 tripod with 327RC2 joystick head – Joystick head is really something amazing and gives me freedom to change position of the camera in a second.

GoPro 3 Hero Black edition – for fun and filming behind the scene

Big and Little Stopper from LEE Filters + ND grad set – those filters gives me a chance to extend exposures of my photos.

With all these thing in my Lowepro Vertex 200 AW bag I feel very comfortable in any kind of situation for shooting. Even after a long walk with this bag on my shoulders, those cameras, lenses and accessories allow me to just focus on the scene in front of the me and to do my best shoot.
