Salvatore Di Gregorio

The pictures you see here are a selection of my personal and commercial work. As I move from reportage to fashion my bag can be quite different but this is mainly what I take with me all the time.

A Canon 5d MKII with Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Canon 50mm f/1.4 which I particularly love, a super light and fast lens.

What to say about the old Hasselblad 500cm. Probably the best camera I have ever possessed with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 60mm f/3.5. Sometimes I use this medium format camera as a 35mm getting very close to my subject. Obviously, it’s a bulky camera, super heavy and in certain situations difficult to handle. But when you are in love with something, you have always to accept some compromise, right?

On the other hand, the Contax T2 balances the lightness and versatility of the most used compact film camera. I wear it under my jacket and it also allows me to shoot in those situations where you want to be invisible.

Nikon FE2 with a Nikon 35mm f/2 AIS, I love this lens for street style. Always with Kodak Portra 400 Film for color or Kodak Tri-X for black and white. I use also Ilford HP5 film as well.

A Sekonic L-558 light meter, very handy when I shoot with my Hassie.

Moving on with some other objects I bring with me and probably more peculiar of me you will see a Lacrosse ball – just roll it over your shoulder and you will have an instant Thai massage on your back. Vital on some long shoots to relax your shoulder from time to time. A Notebook to write or sketch some ideas.

A Google Nexus 5. Actually, I just moved from my old iPhone and this is a super phone especially for the task I need the most: Google Map, email, browsing and the usual social stuff. A Casio watch, it belonged to my granddad, always with me and very useful especially when the battery on your phone leaves you. La mia collana porta fortuna – this is a sort of talisman which I wear to every of my shoot. Pendants are a gift a kid gave me in Cuba and Buddha image I took in a Malaysian temple.
