Sara Melotti

My name is Sara, and I’m 26 years old. I’m originally from Italy, but I currently live between NYC and London. Before becoming a photographer I was a contemporary dancer.

I started doing photography only a year and a half ago, after I received a Canon 60 D as a present. From the very first click, it was love at first sight!

I knew Fashion photography was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life so I started setting up shoots weekly and I quickly developed a portfolio.

Shortly after that, I started shooting for magazines and clients in Europe and US.

Photography is not just a full-time job now, but my whole life. I couldn’t imagine living without it!

My Photography is really feminine and romantic. I love using natural light and shallow depth of field. If I’m in the studio, I prefer very simple lighting. Most of the time I use only 1 light (usually an Elinchrom Octa 175cm)

I started shooting with a Canon 60d and a Canon 50mm f/1.8. After a few months I upgraded to a Canon 5d mark ii and a Canon 85mm f/1.2, which i couldn’t live without! It’s my favorite lens ever. It helps me to translate my vision in a beautiful way. I love to shoot wide open and the quality that this lens gives me when I do is amazing.

Recently I started also using a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 (courtesy of Canon) and I think it’s a great lens to use in case of reduced space.

I think shortly I will upgrade to the Canon 5d mark iii and to the newest version of my 85mm, a Canon 85mm f/1.2 mark ii. I would also like to add a Canon 50mm f/1.2 to my kit, i love prime lenses!
