I started with photography 5 years ago… I don’t remember exactly why…maybe because my mom worked as a photographer when she was young. Maybe just because i like to collect nice things.

I like to work really simple – just natural light, a reflector and with one or two objectives. This light material helps me to explore more.

People always ask: why you use Canon (or Nikon)? Honestly: You just start with a kit, and when you are satisfied and you already buy some lenses you mostly stay with your brand.

I usually buy fixed lenses, which means that I have to walk a bit more on shootings ☺ but it’s worth it, because I love to work with my aperture wide open, and I don’t use my flash often (when i use it, then it’s indirect).

The lens that I use the most is definitely the Canon 50mm f/1.4. Nearly all of my portraits I shoot with this lens. I think it gives me the perfect distance to the person I photograph.. not too far… but also not too near.

1 year ago I started to shoot again with analog cameras. I inherited a Rolleiflex SL 66 from my grandfather and I fell in love. Analog photography helped me to slow down my work, to see better, and to enjoy photography more. When you look through the focus screen and you hear this loud mechanical „click“ from the trigger… for a short time, the world stands still.

It’s been a long journey, but as of last year I’m completely free and able to live by my work as a photographer, and I’m just really happy.

My kit:

Canon 5D Mark III

Canon 28mm f/1.8
Canon 50mm f/1.4
Canon 85mm f/1.8
Canon 100mm f/2.8

Rolleiflex SL66
Nikkormat FT2
Polaroid SX-70
