AI has changed the game of image editing, making the impossible possible, and there are countless new AI-powered platforms and tools for photography fans to turn to.
Magic Hour is one of them, and it’s rapidly gaining traction for its powerful and easy-to-use editing abilities.
I’d heard from fellow photographers about how this platform could upscale and improve the quality of even low-grade images. So, I decided to test it for myself.
Read on through my Magic Hour review for a detailed breakdown of what this tool is, its core features, and whether it’s worth using or not.
Quick Verdict: Is Magic Hour Worth It?
Magic Hour is a powerful, beginner-friendly AI image editing platform that delivers fast, high-quality results across a wide range of tools, with many of them available for free.
It stands out for its sheer variety (100+ AI tools), including image upscaling, photo restoration, unblurring, colorising, and even more advanced features like AI outfit changes. In my testing, most tools produced impressive, near-instant results, especially for enhancing low-quality or older images.
The free plan is one of the most generous I’ve found, making it easy to try without commitment.
While it lacks the fine control of professional software like Photoshop or Lightroom, it excels at quick fixes and one-click transformations.
Best for: Beginners, content creators, and anyone who wants fast, automated image improvements
Not ideal for: Advanced editors who need precise, manual control
Bottom line: If you want an all-in-one AI editor that’s easy to use and delivers strong results with minimal effort, Magic Hour is definitely worth trying.
What Does Magic Hour Offer?

Before I look at any specific features or functions of Magic Hour, here’s what you need to know about this platform.
Magic Hour is marketed as a free AI video and image generation platform, capable of turning images into animated clips or generating pictures from simple text prompts.
However, in addition to its generative AI capabilities, it also offers more than 100 free AI-powered tools you can use to edit and enhance your existing content.
It offers an AI image upscaler, for example, which can help you increase the size and quality of your images, and an AI clothes changer you can use to swap or replace outfits for your photo subjects, with quite remarkable results.
From restoring old photos to removing blemishes, wrinkles, red eye, and glare, Magic Hour makes it possible to improve your images in a lot of different ways.
The best part? All of these features are free, to a certain extent.
New users can sign up without having to spend any money and test out Magic Hour’s miraculous image improvement features for themselves, with no strings attached.
There are also several premium plans available, giving you even more options and advantages, which I’ll look at a little later in the “Pricing” section.
Overall, this is one of the most comprehensive AI platforms around right now, with a lot of different tools and almost every feature you can think of, plus a few more you probably can’t.
It’s accessible, affordable, pleasant to work with, and beginner-friendly, too.
Magic Hour Feature Review
As previously mentioned, Magic Hour has more than 100 AI-powered features in total.
I don’t have the time or space to talk about all of them here, so I will instead highlight some of my favorites, focusing on those that are best for improving images.
Remember, however, that this list is far from exhaustive. There’s a lot that Magic Hour can do, including generating entirely new images, videos, and even audio tracks for your creative projects.
It’s worth checking out the platform yourself to see its full array of functions.
AI Image Upscaler

One of the most effective AI features offered by Magic Hour for improving the appearance of your images is the AI image upscaler.
As the name suggests, this tool is designed to increase the resolution of your pictures. It can take a relatively grainy, blurry, or low-resolution image and dramatically improve it, adding detail, sharpness, and clarity.
Let’s say you have a low-res image of a subject’s face, for example, with features that look a little washed out. The Magic Hour upscaler can bring out the best in this image, making it look dramatically more detailed and visually impressive, all in a matter of seconds.
I got some very positive results working with this tool, and it’s able to upscale all the way up to four times the original resolution. So even the lowest-grade images can see great improvement.
Old Photo Restoration

If you have any older photos, taken back before the days of modern, high-end digital camera technology, you might want to feed some into the Magic Hour photo restorer tool.
This tool has the miraculous ability to bring old images into the modern era, adding color to black-and-white photos, for example, and restoring the original details, fine lines, and intrinsic elements that may not have been fully captured by the original camera.
In short, it’s a way to make older pictures look brand new, perfect for breathing fresh life into family photos from days gone by.
As with other Magic Hour tools and features, I found a lot to like in this one. The accuracy levels were always impressive, and the result almost always looked like how I imagine the original scene would have been, back when these images were first captured.
AI Unblurring

Even experienced photographers snap the odd blurry image from time to time. Usually, we just tend to delete these images when looking back over our photo sessions, but what if we didn’t have to?
That’s where the AI unblurring tool from Magic Hour comes into play.
This feature can soften blurred sections of your photos and discern the details that might otherwise have been lost forever.
It won’t work on deeply blurred images where you can’t really see what the original subject or scene was supposed to look like.
But, so long as there’s a hint of the original image still visible, the Magic Hour AI should be able to figure it out for you and piece together a more detailed, cleaner image, with sharper edges and finer lines.
Photo Colorizing

Next, I’d like to talk about the image colorizer, another golden tool for when you want to transform older photos or those that might have been captured with a black-and-white or monochrome filter of some kind.
This tool injects color and life back into black-and-white or grayscale images. And the most impressive part is how the AI can discern just the right shades and hues to produce final photos that look really natural and authentic.
Like other Magic Hour features, the colorizer is a breeze to work with. It’s simply a case of uploading the image you want to adjust and letting the AI work its magic.
You don’t need to worry about any additional manual steps or complicated processes to get the results you’re looking for.
Wrinkle, Blemish, and Red Eye Removal Tools

If you want to clean up your images and remove pesky imperfections, blemishes, wrinkles, fine lines, or even red eye, Magic Hour has tools to help you.
There are separate fixers for red eye, blemishes, and more. Each one works more or less the same: you upload your photo, let the AI find the problems on its own, and then click to fix them in a flash.
Again, the results here tend to be really impressive. Not only is Magic Hour able to find and fix issues effectively, but it does so remarkably quickly, too.
What would have taken hours in a manual editor can be accomplished in mere minutes or seconds with the help of Magic Hour’s AI.
AI Clothes Changer

Next, here’s something a little different. Magic Hour’s clothes changer feature incorporates the platform’s generative AI capabilities to help you transform your pictures in surprising and exciting ways.
As the name suggests, this feature lets you swap out the outfit of one or more of your photo subjects. You can upload a picture of the person and a separate picture of what you want to see them wearing, then let the AI combine the two together.
The AI clothes changer feature also offers an array of preset outfits you can scroll through and select to save time, and it’s highly versatile; you can adjust the entire outfit of your subject, for example, or just a part of it, depending on your needs.
Pricing
I’ve tried a lot of platforms that are similar in style and scope to Magic Hour, and I know that pricing is often a sticking point for users.
Prices for these kinds of web apps can vary wildly. Some of them are generous, offering a lot of free functionality, while others are highly restrictive, forcing users to pay hefty subscription fees to access most of the tools.
I’m glad to report that Magic Hour falls more into the former category. It has one of the most generous free plans you’ll find on a platform like this.
Free users can access almost all of the 100-plus features available here and get 400 credits per month to use for generating and editing content. That’s enough to make 80 original images or 17 seconds of AI video, or to edit dozens of pictures.
There are some downsides, though: you’re limited to 200MB uploads with the free plan, and there will be watermarks on any content you create.
If that sounds like a problem, there’s no need to worry. Magic Hour offers three premium plans, which you can pay for monthly or yearly, starting at only $10 a month.
The Creator plan offers great value for money, with a whopping 120,000 credits paid out per year, no watermarks, up to 2GB uploads, and priority support.
The Pro and Business plans give you even more credits, upload limits, and superior resolution options, too, but are more geared towards serious, professional users.
Overall, I find the pricing to be quite fair and better than a lot of Magic Hour’s competitors. It’s encouraging to see a free plan that really gives users the option to test the platform fully before committing to a paid subscription.
Who Is Magic Hour For?
Magic Hour can appeal to a broad range of users, including photography and videography enthusiasts, content creators, brands of varying sizes, professionals in various fields, and even just casual users looking to experiment with AI.
This is thanks to its great selection of features, which include everything from AI headshot generation to AI voice cloning, face editing, blemish removal, and image upscaling.
Even if you have a very specific aim in mind, you’re likely to be able to find a Magic Hour tool that can help you achieve it.
Since it’s free, it’s a great choice for those on a budget or people who want to explore AI-powered image editing without having to spend a fortune for the privilege.
Additionally, since it has such a clean, neat interface, it’s perfect for beginners and more seasoned or intermediate users alike.
The only people who might find Magic Hour to be a little lacking are highly advanced, technical editors who prefer more comprehensive editing apps in the Photoshop or Lightroom style. It doesn’t offer the detailed options those tools do, but it is great for quick fixes and one-click transformations.
Final Verdict
Overall, Magic Hour is one of the better AI image editing and generation platforms I’ve used so far, for three key reasons.
First is variety. The sheer range of features here is highly impressive, and I found tools on Magic Hour that I hadn’t seen before on other, similar platforms. This opens up a veritable world of editing opportunities and makes Magic Hour an appealing option for all sorts of users.
The second big benefit is value for money. I’ve already spoken at length about how the free plan offers so much, giving users a risk-free way to test out their favorite features, and even the premium plans are fairly priced compared to other apps of this kind.
The third and final selling point of Magic Hour is performance. In my testing, I found that most of the features produced rapid results, and I was happy not waiting around for too long to see the impact of each tool. The final images were generally accurate and impressive, too.
Overall, I can strongly recommend testing out this tool. You probably won’t need all of its features, or even most of them, but it should help to make many image editing processes a lot easier for you, saving you hours of hard work and producing near-flawless results, almost every time.
