Feature Review

As touched on, there are dozens of AI-driven features in Evoto AI, from simple functions like AI-assisted cropping to much more complex features, like AI hair color changing.

It would take a long time to list them all, so I’m going to focus on a few of the most important ones for serious photography enthusiasts and professionals – namely, AI-powered skin enhancement, automated culling, and batch processing.

Here’s a closer, illustrated look at how each of these three features works and how effective they are.

Skin Enhancement

I take a lot of portraits, so I’ve spent my fair share of time touching up pictures of people’s faces, adjusting skin tones, covering up blemishes, smoothing out fine lines, and so on.

If you have any experience in those kinds of tasks, you’ll know how long it can take with a traditional editor.

Evoto AI’s skin enhancement features streamline the process like never before, turning what used to be hours of effort into a few quick clicks.

Here’s a look at how it works. First, I select the photo I want to edit and open up the “Portrait Retouching” feature list from the sidebar menu on the right of the program window.

As you can see, there are a lot of options, related to everything from blemish removal to skin retouching, facial reshaping, expression adjustment, changes to teeth, eyes, makeup, and more.

I can open each sub-menu and access dozens of different sliders to adjust various aspects of my portrait, erasing freckles in no time, softening the skin tone, and unifying my complexion, all with the aid of AI.

Alternatively, I can simply select one of the helpful AI presets in the box on the left side of the program window – in this case, the “Headshot 01” preset – for instantaneous improvement.

It takes a little time to get used to these features and really make the most of them, as there are simply so many sliders and elements to adjust.

But Evoto AI gives you the best of both worlds – if you’re a casual user looking to save time, you can let the AI do most of the hard work with the help of the presets.

If you’re a more seasoned pro who likes getting into the nitty-gritty of skin enhancement, you can use the multitude of sliders in the side menu. It’s all up to you.

I had a lot of fun playing around with this feature, and the results speak for themselves. It works miracles when it comes to identifying and fixing imperfections and inconsistencies in texture or tone.

Automated Culling

Every picture can’t be perfect. In fact, as both amateur and pro photographers know, the vast majority of images don’t necessarily turn out the way you wanted.

I often find myself scrolling through my photos after a shoot, culling dozens that aren’t quite right, like photos where my focus was a little off, or the subject had their eyes closed, for example. Again, this is a time-consuming process, and not a particularly engaging one.

Evoto AI’s automated culling turns this tedious chore into a triviality.

Like most of the other features in this program, automated culling is remarkably easy to work with.

First, I select the “Library” tab and highlight a group or folder of photos I want to cull.

I then click the “Smart Culling” button at the bottom of the right side menu. In the pop-up window that appears, I can set my culling preferences, instructing the AI on how to discern which images to cull and which to keep.

I can instruct it, for example, to remove images that are blurry or overexposed, as well as those that contain subjects with closed eyes. Once my preferences are set, I click the “Start Culling” button and watch as the AI works its magic.

I tried this feature on several batches of photos and was pleased with the results every time. There were a few occasions where the AI got rid of one or two images I might have preferred to keep, or left some that I had to manually remove myself, but more often than not, it followed my instructions and saved me a lot of tiresome work.

As stated, I often work with large numbers of photos, and it can be frustrating to have to go through them one by one, making individual edits again and again. It’s time-consuming and inefficient, but Evoto AI makes it much smarter.

Batch processing with this AI photo editor follows a straightforward format: first, I choose the images I want to work with and pick one of them as my so-called “hero image.”

I then make whatever changes I want to that specific image.

For this example, to illustrate the power of Evoto AI’s batch processing, I’ll make my hero image black and white.

Then, I click the “Save Preset” button and save my changes to the hero image as a new preset.

From there, all I have to do is go through the remainder of my images and apply that same preset to each one, turning the entire batch black and white in under a minute.

Again, I tested this feature several times with different batches, and it proved to be a serious time-saver.

I sometimes still needed to make other individual alterations to specific photos, but the presets drastically reduced my overall workload.

Along with the aforementioned key features, Evoto AI offers many more intriguing functions for users to experiment with.

Color Grading

Color grading isn’t exactly a new feature; photo editors have been allowing you to adjust brightness, saturation, and so on since the early days.

Gallery Sharing
