When you’re trying to make a good first impression, professional-level headshots can make all the difference. That’s true whether it’s for a LinkedIn profile, business card, or company website.

But top-notch headshots aren’t always easy to capture, especially without the help of a professional photographer. BetterPic aims to change all that.

This AI-powered platform uses state-of-the-art technology to turn simple selfies into studio-standard headshots, and it promises to do it all in under an hour.

Is it as good as it claims, and is it worth your time, money, and attention over other, similar tools or services? Read on through my BetterPic review to find out.

What Does BetterPic Offer?

Before I show you how BetterPic works and cover some of its core features, here’s a quick introduction to this tool and what it brings to the table.

BetterPic is marketed as “the most photorealistic and customizable AI headshot generator” available today, and that sums it up quite well.

While a lot of AI photo and video editors focus on quantity over quality, with dozens or even hundreds of different features and templates, BetterPic was made with one main objective in mind: to provide users with high-end headshots they can use to elevate their personal brands, without having to hire photographers or stage fancy photoshoots.

All the user has to do is upload a simple selfie, which can be taken anywhere, even from the comfort of their own home.

Then, BetterPic takes over, transforming the user’s photo into a stylish, elegant, and above all else, highly professional headshot in under an hour.

With a Trustpilot rating of 4.7 from nearly 1,000 reviews and over 34 million headshots created so far, this is an increasingly popular tool that is proving to be reliable and capable of producing exceptional results.

Feature Review

As mentioned above, BetterPic doesn’t offer dozens of different features. It keeps things simple, providing a clear and distinct service of AI headshot generation.

It can work for both individuals and teams, and I found it very simple to work with, so even those who are brand new to the world of AI image editing and generation should feel comfortable using this tool.

Here’s a closer look at what it’s capable of.

AI Headshot Generation

Whether you’re looking to generate headshots to add to your social media profiles, your brand website, or your business’s “About Us” page, BetterPic can help you make it happen.

I tested it out personally and was pleased to see just how simple and intuitive the process was, right from step one through to the final results.

First, upon logging in and starting the generation process, BetterPic asked me to choose between individual headshots or shots for an entire team or company.

After selecting headshots for one person, the platform prompted me to enter basic details, including my name, ethnicity, the intended use of the photos (I could select up to three use cases), and my eye color.

This is done to minimize the risk of any inconsistencies in the final photos, which might occur due to lighting or other issues.

On the next screen, I got to choose between a wide range of headshot styles and background options.

The backgrounds available include typical headshot settings, such as an office, a retail space, and even a classroom, as well as more niche choices for specific industries, like a real estate space or a doctor’s office.

With so many options to choose from, it shouldn’t be hard to find one that fits your needs and profession. It’s pleasing to see that BetterPic took the time to make so many options and consider so many different industries and sectors here.

As for the clothing, the options are a little more limited, with just four styles to pick from: business, medical, smart casual, and casual. ‘

This is one area I feel could use some improvement and expansion in the future, to reduce the risk of BetterPic-generated selfies feeling too familiar, but it’s still a positive sign to see several available choices.

After making my selections and saving my style, BetterPic went on to ask me to sign up for a premium package, as there are no free trials or free plans available with this tool.

From there, it was simply a case of uploading my photos (the platform demands a total of eight selfies to produce the most accurate results) and letting BetterPic do its thing.

The whole process is remarkably easy, which is one of my favorite things about this platform.

While it’s not as fast as certain AI image generators that can produce pictures from text prompts in a matter of seconds, it still promises to provide results in less than an hour, every time, but only if you pay for the Pro plan.

Users who opt for the cheaper options may have to wait up to two hours. Personally, I waited around 90 minutes for my photos to appear.

Given the quality of the pictures this tool produces, it’s easy to see why it needs those extra minutes to ensure that everything is just right.

In my testing, I didn’t find any visual inconsistencies or abnormalities in the results; my pictures were incredibly clean, true-to-life, and professional-looking.

Indeed, the pictures BetterPic gave me were almost as good as what I’d expect from a paid photoshoot, which would cost quite a lot more than the relatively affordable pricing BetterPic currently offers, which I’ll discuss in more detail later on in the review.

Once all the pictures were finished, I was free to download the full batch of 20 (you can pay extra for additional photos, if you like) or use BetterPic’s AI editing tools to customize them, which leads me to the next section.

AI-Powered Editing and Customization

In general, I found that the photos BetterPic produced were, for the most part, more than good enough for me to simply download to my device and start uploading to my LinkedIn page.

However, the platform does offer quite in-depth editing tools, too, letting you customize your pictures to your liking if anything isn’t quite as you imagined or wanted.

The editing options include:

  • Clothing: One-click outfit changes
  • Background: Switch between offices and other background scenes
  • Magic Fix: Improve any imperfections in your headshots in an instant
  • Magic Eraser: Remove unwanted or distracting elements from a picture
  • Expand: Broaden the size and scale of your headshots
  • Skin Corrector: Adjust your skin tone or hide imperfections
  • Eyes: Change your eye color
  • Human Edit: Manual editing of your headshots
  • Colored Background: Switch to a plain colored background instead of an office-style scene
  • Remove Background: Get rid of the background entirely

I played around with most of these features and found that they all, generally, worked as well as one would hope and expect.

It’s quick and easy, in particular, to make changes to elements like background and outfit, so if you selected an outfit during the initial generation phase but change your mind later on, you can easily swap to a different one without any hassle.

Again, as with the photo generation process, it’s worth noting that some of these edits do take time to apply.

It’s also important to say that these features are mainly useful for making minor alterations, rather than large-scale adjustments, so don’t expect to be able to change your photos in major ways.

Strong Security Standards

Security is one of the most concerning elements of the many AI platforms that are emerging these days, and one of the big questions I always ask before using a tool like this is: How safe is it?

Some tools aren’t exactly renowned for their encryption standards or privacy features and could, therefore, be quite risky to use, especially if you’re uploading pictures of yourself or other personal data.

Fortunately, BetterPic gets security right. The team behind this tool clearly cares about their users feeling confident and assured that their photos and personal data will be treated with care.

That’s why they use enterprise-grade security and privacy measures through every step of the user process, from the initial upload through to the final delivery of your AI-generated headshots.

Indeed, BetterPic follows some of the world’s top security frameworks and standards, abiding by the likes of ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC 2, so you can be sure that your data is safe.

The company also promises to never sell user data or use people’s pictures to train AI models.

On top of that, BetterPic doesn’t save your pictures long-term, either; it’s set to automatically delete them after a period of 30 days or less following delivery.

With AES-256 encryption for data, both at rest and in transit, combined with continuous monitoring tools and independent security audits, I, and plenty of BetterPic’s other users, am satisfied that this platform more than fulfills its obligations as far as user privacy is concerned.

Pricing

A lot of AI tools tend to follow the subscription model, asking users to pay recurring monthly or annual fees to use their services. Others use credit systems, where you pay for packs of credits and cash them in every time you use the platform.

BetterPic does things differently.

It has no subscriptions, no recurring fees, no renewals, and no hidden charges. Instead, it operates on a one-off payment system, where you simply pay for each set of headshots you generate.

If you’re an individual just looking for a simple batch of 20 shots, for example, you can pay a one-off fee of US$35 to get them, pay a little more (US$39) for 60 shots, or a lot more (US$79) for a batch of 120 shots.

Higher fees also give you more edits and style options, plus faster generation times.

There’s also a flexible payment system for businesses and teams, based on how many people you need pictures for and how many shots you need to determine the price.

As I mentioned earlier, the key here is to think about how these prices compare to professional photoshoots, as BetterPic is generally designed as a more affordable alternative to those kinds of shoots.

I know photographers who charge hundreds or even thousands for business photoshoots. Compared to that, BetterPic is remarkably good value.

It’s still not good enough to replace a real photographer, but if you want quality business pictures at a low price, it’s certainly worth considering.

Who Is BetterPic For?

Casual and professional outfit variations on BetterPic.

BetterPic isn’t for everyone, but for those who would find it difficult to get professional-level headshots the conventional way, it’s an ideal choice.

If you don’t have access to a variety of photoshoot settings and setups, like fancy offices or other working environments, BetterPic is worth looking into.

It’s also a good match for those who want to exude professionalism but may not necessarily have the most professional attire, like people working from home or in other casual settings.

Professionals from various fields will surely find a lot to love here, including those in real estate, law, medicine, and other industries.

It’s ideal for small to mid-sized business teams, too, though larger businesses may simply prefer to hire a photographer instead.

The ease-of-use of BetterPic makes it an attractive proposition for non-technical users. So, even if you’re not too familiar or experienced with AI platforms, you can still get great results with this tool.

At the same time, it’s worth noting that, for all its quality and accessibility, BetterPic isn’t perfect. It won’t produce the same standard of pictures as you would get from a reliable, professional photographer.

So, if you want the absolute best and most unique images for your online profiles and branding, and you aren’t restricted by budget, I still feel hiring a pro is the right way to go.

Final Verdict

Overall, I can recommend BetterPic to anyone who wants high-end headshots at an affordable price.

It does have some downsides. The editing tools are a little light, and the processing times can be a little frustrating in a world where we’re used to getting almost immediate results, on demand.

Those minor issues aside, I have nothing but praise for this platform. It’s sleek, secure, efficient, and effective, producing top-notch pictures with only minimal effort required on the part of the user.
